Started by Joe Bidwell and Helen Bidwell, their family has a long background in the landscaping industry. Joe attended the Stockbridge School of Agriculture - majoring in turf services. He then served as the Superintendent at Avon Country Club. Having experience as a sod grower/farmer, both Joe and Helen knew this was the field for them. In 1977, they opened their current location. On January 9, 1978, they officially opened the doors of Bidwell's Yard, Garden, & Pet. The family business also includes their three sons: Bruce, Clay, and Eric.
